Welcome to Class 1

In Class 1 we have 17 bright, friendly and happy children. Mrs Jones teaches all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 with the support of our classroom assistants, Ms Davies, Ms Price and Miss Kennedy, who help us with all of our subjects and support those with additional needs.

We enjoy learning different sounds in phonics and use 'fredding' to help us blend sounds together and to spell new words. We love to read and enjoy learning about a range of different authors and read a variety of new and exciting books. We try to take part in lots of practical tasks to help us to remember new concepts. To further support your child's learning a new reading book, matching taught sounds, a library book and some additional homework will be sent home for you to complete.

We are very lucky to have Mrs Sennett, who teaches us PSHE and our internet safety lessons every other Tuesday, Mr Jones and Mr Cheshire who help us to learn lots of skills in PE and Vicky who enables to explore the fun of outdoor creativity and adventures in forest school.

We will continue to brush our teeth on a daily basis, after lunch, which is also a really nice time to unwind from the excitement of lunchtime play. If you would like to know more abut toothbrushing please do not hesitate to contact me on kjones@almeley.hereford.sch.uk.
